The news brand launches ‘Today in Focus: The Latest’, a new 10 minute video and audio podcast designed to bring audiences up to speed on the day’s most important news
An exciting extension of ‘Today in Focus’, the new evening edition delivers reactive analysis of breaking and developing news — offering listeners timely insights in addition to the main show’s in-depth reporting.
Hosted by Guardian journalist Lucy Hough, a new episode of ‘The Latest’ will be released every weekday at 5pm in the ‘Today in Focus’ main show feed. Hough will be joined by a regular cast of Guardian editors and reporters, bringing expert perspectives on global, national and local news.
The first episode will be available to watch on YouTube, with audio available on all major podcast platforms.
Audiences can also follow ‘Today in Focus’ and ‘Today in Focus: The Latest’ on the show’s dedicated TikTok and Instagram channels for additional updates and behind-the-scenes content.
Nicole Jackson, global head of audio, Guardian News & Media, says: “‘Today in Focus’ gives listeners a daily deep dive every weekday morning. But we know people also want quick, trusted updates as the news unfolds and that is what they will now receive with The Latest.
“This new video podcast will get our audience up to speed on the latest story of the day – delivered every evening on YouTube and all essential podcast platforms. It’s everything you need to know about that day, in 10 minutes or less.”
Hough, host, ‘Today in Focus: The Latest’, says: “’The Latest’ is a hugely exciting expansion for ‘Today in Focus’. News moves fast, and we’ll be offering an innovative and reactive addition to listeners’ feeds.
“I’ll be talking daily to the Guardian’s trusted journalists to bring clarity on the stories that matter most. I’m thrilled to be bringing audiences this new daily snapshot in the Guardian’s debut video-first podcast.”
