The news brand launched ‘Ukrainians in the UK’ on Friday, providing information for Ukrainian refugees and their hosts, InPublishing reports
Running as a dedicated area on the publisher’s website, the site includes practical advice for Ukrainian refugees settling in the UK. Sections include housing, language, employment and more.
The page features a welcome video message from figures including prime minister Boris Johnson and has received endorsement from CEO of the Refugee Council Enver Solomon.
Constructed in under three weeks, the hub is promoted on the Express homepage, with the digital news brand having 100,000 users visiting from Ukraine since the start of 2022 and 34,000 since the start of the war.
Speaking to InPublishing, Express editor-in-chief Gary Jones said: “The human cost of war, the devastating stories of women and children fleeing Ukraine, have really resonated with our readers. They have been very vocal about wanting to help the people of Ukraine; but with all the red tape and bureaucracy many of them don’t know where to start.
“With approximately 100m users visiting our site every month we are in a great position to try to make the process of resettlement easier.
“The lives of Ukrainian people will never be the same again but it’s our duty as Brits to help where we can.”
