Publishers and journalists took home top awards covering all aspects of the industry.
National news brands and their reporters collectively won 38 of the 48 awards that were given out at today’s Press Awards.
Publishers’ campaigns were particularly heralded. Mail Force, the PPE and technology drive spearheaded by the Daily Mail, added another two awards to its collection, with the campaign being honoured with the Journalists’ Charity Special Award and the Cudlipp Award.
The Evening Standard and The Independent’s ‘Food for London now’ and ‘Help the hungry’ campaigns were handed Campaign of the Year.
Top individual prizes such as Young Journalist of the Year, Interviewers of the Year, Sports Photographer of the Year all went to news brand journalists, while Times Radio was awarded Innovation of the Year.
Noting the tough year with the pandemic and the excellent journalism around it, the Press Awards said that “the titles competing for this year’s awards reported so much more – telling powerful stories across the whole spectrum of content in a wide range of styles to suit their readers.
“All of those different voices are part of the rich diversity of the British press and are equally valued and respected by these awards.”
