As well as features inside Tuesday’s edition, the news brand put Black History Month coverage on its front page with an array of sports stars, cultural icons and impactful activists from across history
The publisher dedicated four pages of coverage to mark the start of the month this week, with pages 4 and 5 demonstrating the celebrations, recognition and reflection taking place in events across October. The theme of this year’s Black History Month is ‘Saluting our Sisters’, highlighting the role that Black women have had in shaping history and inspiring social change.
The Evening Standard also celebrated the month in its ‘Escapist’ lifestyle section, exploring London’s Black History landmarks with ‘Black History Walks’ founder Tony Warner. Top sites include Bloomsbury’s Imperial Hotel, the Museum of London and Cleopatra’s Needle.
The news brand’s digital coverage also features a dedicated section for Black History Month, with news, commentary, culture and more.
