The Evening Standard announces the appointment of George Chesterton as executive editor. Chesterton will join the newsbrand in September and his role will focus on the ongoing transformation of the Evening Standard brand under recently appointed editor Dylan Jones.
George joins the Evening Standard from The Telegraph where he was associate managing editor for the past two years, helping its newspapers and magazines pivot to a digital-first strategy.
George has a wealth of experience in senior roles for national news outlets and magazines. Prior to The Telegraph, George was a managing editor and political editor at GQ where he spent eight years. He began his career at The Independent and then The Guardian as a production editor.
George was shortlisted for PPA Columnist of the Year in 2021.
