Host of the Guardian’s ‘Pop culture’ podcast Chanté Joseph is the latest speaker to be announced for our three-day fiesta of culture at MAD//Fest. Speaking on the Hexagon Stage on Wednesday 5 July, Joseph will talk to a special guest about the rise of ‘main character energy’, whether the trend is heralding a new era of self-care and why that’s important for brands. Meanwhile, it’s been a particularly notable week for eye-catching news brand campaigns. At the weekend, the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine featured a minimalist cover wrap promoting a poetry collection by rapper Drake and Canadian poet Kenza Samir. Then on Wednesday, mobile network EE and anti-hate speech charity Glitch placed a full-page open letter calling for an end to abuse online, which was signed by high-profile figures in men’s and women’s sport.
