Showcasing the very best of British cultural journalism, Newsworks is excited to bring back its Speakeasy bar to MAD//Fest for a second year on 2–4 July 2024
With sessions on breathwork and wine tasting to dating and dining, there’s something for everyone at the Newsworks Speakeasy. Attendees will be able to enjoy eight sessions across the three-day event, as well as exclusive perks and the chance to bag two fantastic prizes in our competitions, including dinner at The Ned. You can get your hands on a free MAD//Fest ticket here.
Tuesday 2 July: football and feeling good
The first day at the Speakeasy creates an oasis of calm among the MAD//Fest hustle and bustle. Our doors open early with a morning breathwork session, followed by all things mental health and wellness with Dr Alex George. After lunch, the lucky winner of our wellness competition will get an onstage glow-up in our make-up masterclass.
Later on, we’re warming up for a live screening of a crucial second-round match from Euro 2024 with an exclusive interview with two super star Lionesses and a top sports journalist.
Wednesday 3 July: food, drink and politics
Our first session of day two cooks a storm in the Speakeasy, as Guardian food critic and podcaster Grace Dent and her fellow expert food and drink journalists share some of their favourite nibbles and tipples.
Later, some of Britain’s most well-connected political journalists take on Westminster as a highly anticipated general election looms large.
Thursday 4 July: love and live music
Love is in the air on day three: ‘Celebs Go Dating’ star Anna Williamson and our expert panellists are on the hunt for MAD//Fest’s most memorable despatches from the dating trenches. The winning story will bag someone a luxury dining experience for two at The Ned.
Finally, we’ll be closing out with an exclusive gig with one of British music’s most exciting up-and-coming talents. Don’t miss it!
