Hosted by Westminster’s respected journalists, Patrick Maguire and Gabriel Pogrund, alongside political editors Steven Swinford and Caroline Wheeler. The hosts will dig deep into the latest tea room tip offs, reveal insider conversations and bring analysis, authority and insight.
Swinford, political editor of The Times says: “We’re going to take our listeners inside the room where it happens. We are going to give them the accumulated knowledge of our many conversations and meetings with politicians from all sides of the political spectrum, providing a unique insight into life in Westminster and the people who wield power in Britain today. From the flagship policies to the political scandals, we will help chart a course through the tumult of an extraordinary period in British politics. Buckle up, it’s going to be one hell of a ride.“
Wheeler, political editor of The Sunday Times comments: “We want to bring Westminster to life by providing listeners with an insider’s view of what’s happening in the corridors of power. We will share with you the conversations and thinking that is shaping the political narrative in No10 and beyond, as well as the gossip, plotting and intrigue that has come to define SW1.”
The first episode will be recorded live at the Labour Party Conference and released on Tuesday 30 September, followed by a second episode recorded the following week at the Conservative Party Conference.
Dan Box, head of podcasts for The Times and The Sunday Times said: “Too many podcasts seem to be comfortable hiring people who used to work in politics or journalism and asking what they think of the world they used to work in. This is different. Steven, Caroline, Gabriel and Patrick are in the trenches daily, reporting back on what’s happening and what it means for people outside Westminster. I’m proud to be working with them, and looking forward to seeing what they do with this show.”
