Riley-Smith will join in September after previous experience as a political editor and correspondent, author and radio host
Commenting on his role, Ben Riley-Smith said: “I’m delighted to have been made The Sunday Times’s political editor. I have long been an admirer of the paper’s fantastic, agenda-setting journalism.
“The Sunday Times political reporting has a reputation for being fair, incisive and revelatory. In these uncertain times in Westminster and beyond those values are needed now more than ever. I cannot wait to get stuck in.”
Ben Taylor, editor of The Sunday Times, said: “Ben has the experience of breaking exclusive stories and covering the biggest issues in London and Washington. Our readers expect political journalism that is authoritative and agenda-setting, and Ben will be central to delivering that aim.
“He is also a talented broadcaster and will be central to our audio and video strategy. I am delighted to welcome him to the team.”
