During his nine-year tenure at The Sun, Gilmartin has been instrumental in the brand’s digital evolution, serving in pivotal roles including digital editor and home page editor. He also has vital print production experience with responsibility for editing the Sunday edition.
Gilmartin says: “There are challenges ahead but we’ve already made great strides in video while ensuring our iconic print edition remains the vibrant, essential daily read for readers across Scotland. Our news, sport and politics coverage continues to outshine the rest on every platform.
“We have a team full of talent and I’m immensely proud to be taking The Scottish Sun onto the next chapter.”
Victoria Newton, editor-in-chief of The Sun, says: “I am delighted Kris has accepted the role of acting editor at The Scottish Sun.
