As part of the partnership between the festival and the news brand, The Independent will host a series of in-depth conversations with artists, writers, comedians, scientists and cultural figures from across the Latitude line-up
The full interviews will be available to watch on both The Independent and Latitude Festival websites, with clips and highlights shared across social media channels in the lead-up to the festival.
The series begins today, 8 June with comedian Rosie Jones in conversation with The Independent’s culture news editor Lauren Morris, available here, before continuing with:
- 10 June – YouTuber and musician James Marriott in conversation with The Independent’s Brydie Monaghan
- 15 June – Cosmonaut Helen Sharman interviewed by The Independent’s Technology Editor Andrew Griffin
- 17 June – Steve Mason of The Beta Band in conversation with broadcaster Shaun Keaveny
- 22 June – Poet and playwright Inua Ellams interviewed by Brydie Monaghan
- 24 June – Acclaimed choreographer Sir Matthew Bourne speaking with The Independent’s editor-in-chief Geordie Greig
- 29 June – Comedian Marcus Brigstocke in conversation with Brydie Monaghan
- 1 July – Professor Chris Jackson speaking with Andrew Griffin
- 6 July – The series culminates with Alex James, Blur bassist, farmer and celebrated cheesemaker, in conversation with The Independent’s Music Editor Roisin O’Connor
The partnership will also see extensive Independent branding across various festival touchpoints, as well as on-stage appearances from The Independent’s journalists and podcast talent from its production house, Independent Studio.
