Some 13 teams representing media companies from across the UK competed in the second edition of the Mail Metro Media Cup in partnership with Campaign.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the five-a-side football tournament for women in media took place on the rooftop of PowerLeague Battersea with Sky Betting & Gaming UK coming out on top at the end of a closely contested final, winning 5-4 against runner-up hosts, Mail Metro Media.
The ‘Player of the Tournament’ prize was awarded to Mail Sport’s Commissioning sport editor, Kate McGreavy.
England and Manchester United defender, Gabby George hosted the prize-giving ceremony alongside Mail Metro Media’s chief revenue officer, Dom Williams, before players and supporters enjoyed a barbecue celebration and special screening of England’s second game of the group stages against Netherlands at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
Commenting from the sidelines, Dom Williams said: “We’re so proud to have grown this year’s Cup into an even bigger and better event for all the players and supporters involved.
“With the sun shining and England’s Lionesses also playing today, we couldn’t have asked for more… aside from Mail Metro Media winning it! But we’ll be back next year with our continued passion for promoting women’s sport and championing inclusivity.”
Other teams to take part in this year’s Mail Metro Media Cup included Neverland, Microsoft, Medialab, OMD, Mindshare, Publicis, JAA Media, Goodstuff, The Kite Factory and the7stars.
This year’s teams were also kitted out with their own branded kit by Kitlocker and Gift of Kit. Kitlocker empowers teams, fans, and communities through team wear that inspires and unites individuals, whilst Gift of Kit is the link between grassroots sports and brands.
