Host of Strong Like Mum and women’s health expert Shakira Akabusi has launched 6 Weeks to a Stronger Core, a free YouTube series to help women build real sustainable strength
Accessible 15 minute workouts will be published weekly, addressing deep core strength, pelvic floor support, and overall fitness. This plan aims to help women feel stronger and more confident, particularly postnatal and perimenopausal women.
The series is designed to support women in building strength and improving their fitness within a realistic timeframe.
The series will begin with ‘switching on your core’, activating the core, pelvic floor and glutes after pregnancy or time away from exercise. It will then look to ‘fix a weak core feeling’, tackling the familiar feeling of weakness in the middle through targeted exercises.
Moving into more challenging stability and strength work, ‘core strength and support’ will connect your core to movement patterns used in everyday life to build sustainable strength. ‘Build a strong core to make everyday movement easier’ will double down on the multi-directional, functional movements that women use when moving through work, life and motherhood.
‘Build core strength that lasts’ will develop this foundation, gently challenging the core with whole body movements, while the final session ‘connecting your core to your whole body’ in week 6 will demonstrate how the vital muscles developed sit within the whole body for lasting, noticeable change.
Built on Akabusi’s 15 years working with women on their health goals, the series is tailored to fit around the busiest of schedules and targeted to achieve meaningful results.
