A campaign backed by the West End award-winning musical Hamilton has won £10,000 of ad spend on The Independent
For International Women’s Day this year, the musical Hamilton is celebrating the women behind the scenes of its UK production. For the first time ever, all the heads of department backstage for the London production are all women, including across automation, sound, stage management, wardrobe and wigs. Photographs of these women in action have been posted across Hamilton’s social media throughout the day, alongside interviews on what inspires them in their jobs.
As winners of the competition, Hamilton’s inspiring campaign will be featured on The Independent, helping to celebrate the women who are rarely seen but who are integral to the success of the production every night.
Commenting on the winning entry, The Independent’s trade marketing director Beth Gordon said: “At The Independent, we’re all about making change happen. This International Women’s Day, lots of brands are celebrating the bold and the brave women who are helping to break the bias, and inspiring and supporting others to do the same. And we want to help.
“We are delighted to choose Hamilton’s inspirational campaign as the winner and are pleased to help shine a spotlight on the impressive women behind one of the world’s most popular productions.”
