The news brand will use the encrypted messaging service to share a curated selection of stories about the war in Ukraine with those without access to Western media
The Times will publish two stories a day on its new Telegram channel, with the Kremlin still unable to block access to the messaging app for users in Russia.
Any of the 500 million global users of Telegram will have access to the channel, including users in Ukraine, many of whom use the app to record videos of fighting and atrocities that then get shared further across social media.
