Newsworks’ monthly search for news brands’ most popular ad campaigns returned bigger and better than ever this week, with the winning ad from each month in contention for a prestigious Newsworks Awards later this year
January’s shortlist of top campaigns demonstrated some of the very best of what multiplatform news brands are capable of, whether with cross-channel brand partnerships, perfectly placed contextual campaigns or topical tactical ads.
However, it was mSix&Partners and Smart Energy GB’s brand partnership with The Sun that took top spot. Congratulations to both teams!
The campaign built on Smart Energy GB’s long-standing mission to help readers harness the energy revolution through a four-page pullout supplement detailing what 2070’s homes might look like. The content even included a QR code linking through to augmented reality three-dimensional models loading directly on readers’ phones.
Speaking about the campaign, Sam Gayton, partnerships director at mSix&Partners, said: “The AR cover-wrap advert was a fantastic idea from the News UK team to bring Smart Energy GB’s ‘Home of the Future’ to life as part of our ‘Future Gazing’ partnership.
“The editorial credibility of UK news outlets is so important for brands like Smart Energy GB as we try and help more people in Britain to understand the benefits of smart meters, so we’re really happy that we managed to marry this credibility with the innovative nature of this execution to create a memorable print ad!”
