UK ad spend hits £6bn in Q1 2019.
AA/WARC’s quarterly Expenditure Report shows that UK ad spend rose by 4.2% year-on-year, largely attributed to the strength of online advertising performance. This marks the 23rd consecutive quarter of market growth, with UK ad spend now at £6bn.
Growth for news brands is forecasted in online ad expenditure, which in 2019 is predicted at 1.1% and in 2020, 6.7%. These numbers reflect the latest PAMCo numbers that show how mobile is emerging as the most popular platform for accessing news brands, especially among younger audiences.
The results speak for themselves, the continued growth in online daily readership is resulting in innovative advertising solutions that allow advertisers to maximise the potential of engaged eyeballs.
Beyond the news industry, the future looks good. The UK’s ad market is expected to grow a further 5.3% in 2020.
These figures come after the recent Advertising Pays 7 report shows that the UK is the largest online advertising market in Europe and the third-largest in the world.
