In an event hosted by Newsworks and New Digital Age at The Box sports bar in Manchester, the first-ever ‘Could We Lie to You’ filtered rumour from reality in the quest to conquer fake news
With a lively audience and a top lineup of journalists, host Rob Mayhew put Guardian northern correspondent Josh Halliday, Sunday Times columnist and Times Radio political correspondent Charlotte Ivers and Metro assistant editor Claie Wilson under the fake news spotlight in a series of quick fire rounds.
Newsworks also launched its latest ‘Fact not fake’ report at the event. The research explores the power of news brands in the fight against online misinformation, as well as how advertisers can leverage trust in established news media to drive campaign effectiveness.
