Tottenham Hotspur’s Jessica Naz presents trophy at the first five-a-side tournament for women in media
13 teams representing media companies from across the UK took part in the Mail Metro Media Cup, in partnership with Campaign. Women’s Super League club Tottenham Hotspur and England U23 player, Jess Naz, presented the winning trophy for the media industry’s first all-female football tournament.
Following the announcement of its launch at Mail Metro Media’s Upfront & Centre event in October last year, teams were quick to sign up from Mindshare, OMD, Global, Talon, VCCP, neverland and MI Media to name a few. Haymarket was crowned the overall tournament winner, beating Sky Betting & Gaming in a closely-fought final.
The winning trophy and medals were presented by Naz alongside Mail Metro media’s chief revenue officer, Dominic Williams and Campaign’s media editor, Beau Jackson. Over 150 players and supporters enjoyed the prize-giving ceremony afterwards at Powerleague Shepherd’s Bush, with a celebratory barbecue served by Pink Diamond Catering.
Mail Metro Media’s chief revenue officer, Dominic Williams, said: “We’re so proud to have launched our industry’s first female five-a-side football tournament – and the huge success it has been, with players and supporters turning out from so many media companies. Being passionate about sport and inclusivity, we look forward to growing The Mail Metro Media Cup into a staple event on the media industry’s calendar.”
Mail Metro Media’s team captain and direct sales commercial manager, Ella Serer said: “The Lionesses’ incredible success over the past few years has done wonders for the women’s game, and not only motivated me – but the whole team at Mail Metro Media to kick-start our very own industry tournament. Having played for Spurs’ Under-16s myself when I was younger, it’s been amazing to have Jess here to inspire and support too.”
