The news brand’s 24/7 digital offering will be enhanced by the weekly newspaper celebrating the best London has to offer, from entertainment guides to lifestyle, sports, culture and news — the drumbeat of life in the world’s greatest city.
The first issue will be distributed on 26 September 2024, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the London media market and an important addition to the wider digital Standard portfolio.
The London Standard is a new weekly newspaper that brings together the newspaper qualities that audiences have read for almost two hundred years. Sharp opinion, analysis, interviews and deeply researched features will combine with ES Magazine’s core values of design, visual impact, luxury lifestyle content and relevance.
With an insider’s feel it will offer an original, energetic take on everything London has to offer: the very best comment, consumer guides, business, fashion, food, travel, reviews, politics and the hottest places in London to enjoy the weekend.
Dylan Jones, editor in chief, said, “I’m excited to re-launch London’s only essential newspaper of record, an indispensable tip-sheet full of vibrant opinion, cultural broadsides and political gossip.
“It guides informed Londoners through the very best our city has to offer, fusing magazine and newspaper content in the most original print package on the market.”
The London Standard will be distributed every Thursday and will replace the weekly distribution of ES Magazine. After decades of success, the last issue of ES Magazine will be published on 12 September to coincide with London Fashion Week. The last daily issue of the Evening Standard will be the 19 September; up to this point, the news brand will continue to publish a three-day operation across Tuesday to Thursday.
This evolution marks a new chapter in the Evening Standard’s journey with strategic changes to its business. The news brand will continue to serve its national audience across multiple platforms including digital, social, audio and now with a completely new weekly print product edited by Dylan Jones.
