Back from its break, our ‘ad of the month’ poll was on the hunt for a blockbuster campaign from July and August. It was a valiant effort from all eight top campaigns, but only one could take home the accolade of ‘ad of the summer’ — congratulations to OMD UK and British Gas!
There was plenty to proud about from our Olympians and Paralympians in Paris this summer, including yet another medal for star diver Tom Daley.
With Daley announcing his retirement after the Games, Team GB and Paralympic GB partner British Gas used a tactical full-page ad to express its and the nation’s pride.
Commenting on the winning campaign, British Gas brand & marketing director Andy Freeman said: “Throughout this brilliant summer of sport, we’ve been Powering Home Fans across the country with our energy, engineers, and support of Team GB.
“To do that meaningfully, we had a planned reactive strategy that allowed us to show up in the moments that really mattered.
“Tom’s brilliant Olympic silver medal and consequent retirement announcement was certainly one of those, and print gave us the perfect environment to pay tribute.”
