The new ABC metric illustrates the scale of the UK newspaper market.
The monthly ABC data introduces a new metric total circulated copies, which is measured by the total number of copies distributed by publishers and audited by ABC in 2019.
The metric shows that from January to December 2019, 1.68 billion national newspapers were circulated in the market.
The impressive figures reflect the most recent PAMCo data that shows, combined with print readership (11 million daily), overall daily national news brand readership currently rests at 26 million people. The total UK news brand sector reaches 48 million people a month across platforms, which puts UK journalism’s audience numbers ahead of the US-based tech platforms.
