1. First steps
The Times shared a heartwarming launch video on YouTube from the Centre for Early Childhood’s ‘Shaping us’ campaign, supported by the Princess of Wales. The film follows the first five years of a newborn baby’s life and the importance of family, friends and education to help them grow into who they’ll become.
2. Star attraction
Stargazers may be used to finding the odd comet, but watchers in Hawaii got more than they bargained for when they spotted a floating ‘whirlpool’ in the sky. The Evening Standard reported the phenomenon was linked to the launching of a satellite by Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
3. A fabulous night’s sleep
With a third of Brits suffering from sleep disruption, you’re not alone if drifting off seems elusive. This beautifully illustrated print spread in The Sun on Sunday’s Fabulous magazine gave hints and tricks from sleep expert Dr Neil Stanley.
4. The land of pod
Know a podcast junkie or can’t get enough of them yourself? The Guardian’s ‘Hear here’ newsletter is the ultimate guide to the best from the podcast world every week. This week’s top recommendations puts Fleabag in the therapist’s chair and follows complete strangers as they travel the world together.
5. Hats off to a great cause
The Mirror featured a campaign by Age UK and Innocent to create the UK’s biggest ever knitted hat. The initiative aims to bring communities together for a ‘knit and nat’, and then give away bits of the hat to homelessness and animal welfare charities.
The partnership has been going on for 20 years and has seen 11 million hats made and £3 million raised.
