Total subscriptions increased to over 740,000 in March 2022, Telegraph Media Group (TMG) announced in its latest trading statement
This figures adds to 720,000 subscriptions the publisher reached in December 2021, a major milestone towards TMG’s stated strategic goal of 1 million by the end of 2023. Breaking that milestone represented a 28% growth in subscriptions compared to December 2020.
The news brand also demonstrated the success of the new version of its app, which is now used daily by 240,000 subscribers as of April 2022. The app, launched in April 2021, combines the daily edition of the newspaper with around-the-clock digital content.
Speaking about the statement, TMG chief executive Nick Hugh commented: “TMG has continued its excellent progress towards our stated strategic goal; subscription numbers have seen substantial growth since launching in 2018.
“In December 2021 we exceeded the significant milestone of 720,000 subscriptions. The overall subscription number remains the key metric for TMG.
“We have continued to invest in our high quality, trusted and award winning journalism including the successful launch of the new version of our app.”
He later added: “Material investment in journalism, technology platforms and digital operations will continue in 2022”
