Women in Journalism is set to host an exclusive exhibition at Newsworks’ Festival of News event next week to celebrate its 30-year anniversary
Showcasing iconic female journalists, the exhibition will pay tribute to leading writers past and present including Marie Colvin, The Sunday Times’ foreign correspondent who sadly died while covering the siege of Homs in Syria in 2012, journalist and author Yasmin Alibhai-Brown and football reporter Julie Welch.
Festival of News attendees will have a chance to see a preview of the exhibition at the British Library on 9 June, with eight portraits on show at the event. All 30 portraits will be available online over the next few weeks and featured at other upcoming events.
Daily Mirror editor and Women in Journalism chair Alison Phillips said: “We’re excited to celebrate Women in Journalism’s 30th anniversary by showcasing ground-breaking women from across the history of the industry. I am looking forward to seeing the exhibition at Newsworks’ Festival of News event.”
