The news brand will continue its partnership with NSPCC’s Monday Movie Club, which supports the indispensable national Childline service.
The partnership with NSPCC began in 2022. The ongoing relationship underscores The Independent’s commitment to supporting organisations that make change happen.
The Monday Movie Club sees members monthly screenings of high-profile films before they are released. Exclusive previews take place on a monthly basis in the confines of the lauded Ham Yard Hotel in Soho. Members also have access to an elegant private bar in which they can entertain guests.
Since launching in 2011, the initiative has raised more than £1 million to fund Childline, which is a free 24/7 confidential counselling service for children and young people.
As part of the relationship with NSPCC:
- The Independent’s chief culture reporter, Jacob Stolworthy, will give introductions to the film screenings.
- The Independent’s readers and advertisers will be given the opportunity to attend the club’s programme of events.
- NSPCC will be given advertising inventory on The Independent.
Already this year, Monday Movie Club has shown ‘The Brutalist’ and ‘A Complete Unknown’. The next screening will be an exclusive preview of ‘Black Bag’, the spy thriller starring Cate Blanchett, this 17 March.
Beth Gordon, director of brand marketing and communications, Independent Media, commented: “It is our great privilege to continue to use our platform for good, supporting the crucial, lifesaving work of the NSPCC and Childline.
“At The Independent, we firmly believe that it’s our responsibility to use our scale and trusted voice to make tangible, positive change happen, whilst our readers show themselves time and time again to be hugely generous and committed to making the world a better, fairer place.”
Nikki Donohoe, head of partnerships at the NSPCC said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with The Independenton the Monday Movie Club, which has already raised a significant amount of money for Childline.
“The Independent’s support since joining us in 2022 shows just how much impact we can have when movie lovers come together for a great cause.”
