Sam Lister has been promoted to Daily Express political editor from deputy, taking over from Macer Hall who has stepped down after 18 years at the news brand.
Lister, who has also appointed as head of politics for the Express brand, started her tenure as political editor with a front-page interview with Conservative leadership contender Liz Truss on Tuesday.
Express Editor-in-Chief Gary Jones said: “I’m absolutely delighted Sam has agreed to head up our political team. She’s a brilliant journalist, whose passion for politics will help make our stories, comment and analysis across digital and print, the most relevant and engaging for our ever-increasing audience.
“We are sad to see Macer leave. His exceptional service and first-class journalism over so many years has been absolutely crucial in making the Express so relevant and respected for its political coverage.”
