The latest PAMCo data shows news brand consumption is predominantly driven online, with digital news brands now reaching 40 million monthly, 32 million weekly and 18 million daily
Digital audiences are particularly represented in mobile readership, with news brands adding over half a million daily mobile readers (17 million) compared to the previous PAMCo data published in September.
On a daily basis, 24 million people consume content from national news brands, half of the UK’s adult population.
News brands also continue to perform strongly against social media platforms among young people — 9 million (61%) 18-34s consume news brands weekly, more than those that visit TikTok (7 million), Snapchat (6 million) or X (5 million) in the same timeframe.
These numbers show news brands’ reach, influence and relevance, mirroring the regional and socioeconomic distribution of the UK’s audience. According to Ofcom, 7 out of 10 people say news brands help them understand what’s going on in the world today.
