National news brands and their journalists from across the industry were awarded on Wednesday night for their dedicated investigative reporting in the public interest
Newsworks supported two categories on the night celebrating the positive impact of investigative and campaigning journalism on readers and wider society.
National investigation of the year was won by The Telegraph’s ‘Lockdown Files’ scoop, while the Guardian’s investigation into the Confederation of British Industry took highly commended. Meanwhile, national campaign of the year went to the Evening Standard and The Independent’s joint ‘School Hunger’ initiative, with highly commended going to ‘Clean it up’ by The Times.
Elsewhere, political journalist of the year went to the Guardian’s Pippa Crerar, with The Sunday Times’ Gabriel Pogrund and the Mirror’s John Stevens earning highly commended. National news media organisation of the year was won by The Telegraph, with the judges also commending Times Media.
