The awards are back to celebrate innovative and creative planning in news brands.
NatWest Group’s chief marketing officer Margaret Jobling will lead the jury for Newsworks’ 2021 Planning Awards, which launches next week.
Having worked on iconic brands such as Lynx, Dove and Cadbury Dairy Milk, and more recently for British Gas and Centrica, Jobling is well-placed to steer this year’s stellar line-up of judges.
Commenting on her role, Jobling said: “The importance of communication has never been more paramount. Brands are being forced to rethink how they engage with their audiences and with that, we’re seeing much more authenticity, humility and understanding. They say necessity is the mother of invention and with that in mind, I’m thrilled to be chairing Newsworks’ 2021 Planning Awards to be inspired by the best in class of news brand advertising over the past year.”

New for 2021 is the introduction of a digital-only category, ‘Best digital news brand campaign’, which recognises the impactful use of digital news brand platforms. In addition, extra bonus points will be awarded to campaigns that consider sustainability, either in what they promote or the way the campaign is developed.
Jo Allan, Newsworks’ managing director, added: “2020 saw some incredibly poignant campaigns that united the nation, challenged our differences and thanked courageous key workers. Every year the standard of campaigns we receive gets higher and I am very excited to see what this year’s entries have in store for us. Good luck!”
Entries will open next week, Monday 1 February, and close on Friday 26 February.
