The Daily Mail’s Christmas campaign leads to quick result, allowing families to see their loved ones in care homes.
This week health secretary Matt Hancock announced plans to extend Covid testing to care home visitors, allowing families much-needed access to residents.
The new testing plan will enable visitors to hug their loved ones as long as they produce a negative Coronavirus result and are wearing personal protective equipment.
The change in policy comes just days after the Daily Mail launched its Christmas campaign, which highlighted the devastating impact of the pandemic restrictions on the country’s 410,000 care home residents.
On Friday, the Daily Mail ran a front page story calling on ministers to allow care home residents to reunite with their loved ones in time for Christmas.
