Williams-Grut makes a return to the news brand’s business desk to work across its print and digital platforms.
Starting in September, he will bring a wealth of experience in the digital space as the Evening Standard continues its online growth into its business section.
Having previously worked as the Evening Standard’s business journalist and market reporter from 2012-2015, as well as running the brand’s social media presence, Williams-Grut returns with senior financial experience elsewhere in the media industry.
Digital has been a priority under the leadership of editor Emily Sheffield, with the news brand undergoing a site-wide redesign focussing on its readable digital-first mobile product. In 2021’s second quarter, the Evening Standard’s website attracted over 68 million unique visitors globally, up 14% compared to October 2020.
On what his new home can offer readers, Williams-Grut remarked: “The City needs a voice now more than ever as London recovers from Covid and adapts to life outside the EU. The Evening Standard’s business desk will continue to provide that voice and extend it by finding new ways to reach our audience online.”
