ES Magazine, the Evening Standard’s iconic weekly lifestyle and culture magazine, this week unveiled a new spirit, vision and look, both in print and online, under the leadership of new editor Ben Cobb. The new version of ES Magazine brings Londoners a new logo, vibrant voices, bold imagery and inspiring insights into life as a Londoner.
Since its launch in 1987, ES Magazine’s unique weekly take on life in the world’s greatest city has made it a must read for Londoners in the know. This new chapter in the ES Magazine’s history will take the publication from strength to strength as it marks its 35th anniversary.
The newly launched magazine boasts a bolder and sophisticated aesthetic with more white space, as well as a new logo and masthead with a font aligned with the main Evening Standard brand. In addition, the revamped digital edition is relocating to join the rest of the Standard’s quality journalism on standard.co.uk and will feature a mixture of visual stories and longer form editorial articles giving the team full reign to story tell and deep dive into topics that matter.
The ES Magazine’s new Editor, Ben Cobb, said:“As a Londoner, ES has always been a part of my life. It’s a privilege to edit such an iconic London brand. I’m excited to work with the ES team on capturing the energetic soul of this city and reaching a powerful community in London and beyond.”
Cobb commenced his role as Editor in October marking a new era for the iconic publication, which celebrates London’s thriving culture, art, fashion, beauty, food, film and theatre scenes. A renowned fashion journalist and tastemaker, Ben spent over a decade at British fashion magazine Another Man, in roles including Editor-in-Chief, before joining influential style publication LOVE as Co-Editor-In-Chief in early 2020.
As well as a new look and new editor, the magazine has unveiled a raft of new sections, including:
- Bubble Rap a weekly feature by new voice, Londoner and fashion blogger Susie Lau;
- Need to Know offering a weekly digest of the who-what-where-and-when of everything;
- A reboot of My London; and
- A reintroduction of the Editor’s Letter as a regular feature.
A host of new inspiring image-makers and writers are joining the team bringing with them a unique point of view. These include photographers Quil Lemons, Tim Walker, Indigo Lewin; stylists Katie Grand and Harry Lambert; and writers Tim Blanks, Susie Lau (aka Susie Bubble) and Willy Ndatira (aka @williamcult). Read by 614,000 Londoners every week and with a total digital lifestyle audience of 1.5m, ES Magazine sets the London life and style agenda by delivering the capital’s best features and interviews, from politics to pop culture, fashion to food, and to bring alive the city’s vast swell of creative talent. To celebrate and showcase the new ES Magazine, it is working with London Fashion Week as the event’s official media partner in February.
