Since The Trial of Lucy Letby first aired in October 2022, the podcast has repeatedly gone behind the headlines of some of the biggest court cases in the world
It gives listeners every detail as the evidence unfolds, examining key moments and carrying out exclusive interviews with detectives, victims and experts.
The show has been praised for tackling the legal difficulties associated with bringing listeners in-depth audio coverage of a running trial.
The ground-breaking Letby series, hosted by the Mail’s northern correspondent Liz Hull and broadcast journalist Caroline Cheetham, was recognised as ‘News Podcast of the Year’ at the Press Awards and by the London Press Club.
Other major court cases covered by The Trial have included Brianna Ghey, the Holly Willoughby plot and the Trial of Lord Lucan.
The show has now reached international fame, with the case of the ‘mushroom cook’ Erin Patterson in Australia and the sexual allegations against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs that have rocked the showbiz world.
Jamie East, dmg media head of podcasts, said: “[The Trial’s] international expansion is something that will further cement it as one of the best examples of how to reimagine traditional journalism for a modern age, something we at dmg media constantly strive for.
“My huge congratulations on this milestone to Caroline, Liz and the wider gang of tenacious and brilliantly talented journalists, producers and editors that have put so much hard work into the series.”
