As Cop26 approaches, the publisher commits to extensive coverage of the summit and the wider climate crisis
As part of this commitment, The Guardian is launching a revamped weekly environmental newsletter, Down to Earth, cutting through the clamour of climate crisis news to spotlight the biggest stories of the week.
Launching on 28 October, each edition will carry an exclusive piece from one of the publisher’s environment correspondents, as well as highlighting ‘Climate Heroes’ in a section dedicated to reader’ efforts.
As well as providing breaking news, analysis and features, The Guardian’s Cop26 coverage will include a daily liveblog and dynamic data on crucial climate indicators on the UK homepage.
Additionally, the Today in Focus and Science Weekly podcasts will dedicate content to Cop26, while print readers will find the Saving Planet Earth supplement, informing them of everything they need to know about the summit.
Speaking about the news brand’s climate journalism commitments, The Guardian’s editor-in-chief Katharine Viner said: “The Guardian is committed to quality environmental journalism, rooted in scientific fact and giving a voice to those most affected.
“Throughout Cop26 we will be giving our readers a range of insightful, helpful and in-depth journalism across multiple formats to ensure readers have the information they need at this critical moment.”
