Videos of the Daily Mail’s coverage of Mike Tyson’s fight with Jake Paul were watched over an astonishing 280 million times
The fight, which ended with a win for Paul, 27, against 58-year-old Tyson, was streamed exclusively on Netflix, with a reported 65 million “concurrent streams” from around the world.
The boxing match sparked huge interest from fans, with millions tuning into Mail Sport for its blow-by-blow coverage of the controversial showdown.
Video producer Alex Biddle and reporter Charlotte Daly were on the ground in Texas, capturing all the build-up and reaction to the fight, with teams in London and New York editing all the content.
“This was a knockout collaboration from our operators on the ground and the team in the office, utilising a range of skills from within the sport and video teams,” Lee Clayton, Mail’s global publisher of sport, said.
“We certainly showed more punch than Mike Tyson.”
The results were spectacular, with 130 million views on TikTok, over 90 million on Instagram and 40 million on Facebook.
Mail Sport’s live blog, which featured updates from Jeff Powell ringside alongside Charlotte and Alex’s videos, also attracted almost one million pageviews across desktop, mobile and app.
“It’s a sign of how we are approaching big sport and entertainment events,” Clayton said.
“Our audience is engaging with our content across multiple platforms, from traditional print readers to a new audience on TikTok.”
He added: “We look forward to exciting times ahead…though it’s not certain the same can be said for Mike Tyson.”
